| Jayne Macta was a lobbyist who was trying to get members of Congress to sign a letter to the Department of Agriculture in an effort to change a regulation that affected research laboratories. She had been in contact several times with the aides for Rep. Jim Saxon. Although she felt he would sign the letter and the staff seemed positive, she couldn't seem to get him to actually sign the letter. She finally contacted Pam Straighter, an animal handler who lived in his district. Pam called and left a voice mail asking him to sign the letter. That was all it took. A staff person told Jayne later, "Next time, don't take so long to get a constituent to call." |
